Parenting Advice

The cornerstone of our work at Pediatric Associates is your child’s wellbeing.  Our goal is to partner with you in providing your children with all the tools theyneed to grow and develop to their fullest potential.  As such, we follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for periodic Well Child visits.  During these visits we measure and weigh your child to track their growth.  We also access their development and assist you with parenting and safety guidelines.  In accordance with the AAP guidelines, we routinely schedule Well Child visits at the following ages:  1-2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, and then yearly thereafter.  During these visits we also ensure that your child receives the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommended vaccines to prevent childhood illnesses. If you have concerns about immunizations, click here to learn more about our policies.

Below you will find, by well visit age, our anticipatory guidance regarding what to expect developmentally at each age, and what routine measures a parentshould take to ensure the safety of their child.  We also provide guidelines on feeding and sleeping and behavior for each age.  We are available at yourchild’s Well Care Visit to discuss any questions not covered in these guidelines.
